Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply when you use christophergorges.com (the "Site"). The Site is operated by Chris Gorges and Johnni Gorges ("we," "us," or "our"). The Site includes our newsletter, Fox Family Adventures shop and downloads, beta reader program, ASL resources, and ASL practice sessions. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Who Can Use the Site

Anyone may browse the Site. Beta reader accounts and ASL practice sessions are for adults 18 and older. Parents, guardians, and teachers are welcome. Please do not create an account for a child or submit a child's personal information.

2. Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for everything that happens under your account. Please give us accurate information. You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms.

3. Beta Reader Program

Free access. The beta reader program is free. One membership gives you access to every featured title. You do not have to buy anything, leave a public review, or give positive feedback to take part.

Reading copies are confidential and personal. Beta reader copies are unpublished drafts that we share with you for your personal reading and feedback. You agree not to:

  • share, upload, forward, sell, or otherwise distribute any reading copy or any part of it;

  • post or publish excerpts, plot details, or spoilers from an unpublished draft without our written permission; or

  • use a reading copy for any other purpose.

Anyone who wants to read along can sign up for free access of their own.

Your feedback. You keep ownership of what you write. By submitting feedback, you give us a free, permanent, non-exclusive right to use it to revise and develop our books. We will not owe you payment or credit if our books later reflect your suggestions. We use feedback for revisions only, and we will not quote it publicly or use it in marketing.

Changes to the program. We may add or remove titles, change the program, or end it at any time.

4. ASL Practice Sessions

Our weekly ASL practice sessions are free, informal, self-directed conversation practice. They are not a course, a certification, or a substitute for learning from Deaf educators and the Deaf community.

When you join a session, please:

  • be respectful and welcoming to learners at every level;

  • avoid harassment, hateful, or inappropriate content; and

  • do not record, screenshot, or share other participants without their consent.

We do not record sessions. We do use Zoom's meeting summary feature, which processes spoken audio during a session to create a written summary for our planning. See our Privacy Policy for details. We may remove anyone from a session who disrupts it or breaks these Terms.

5. Shop Orders

Prices and availability. Prices are shown in U.S. dollars and do not include shipping or applicable taxes, which appear at checkout. Products and prices may change, and items may sell out. Colors and sizes may look slightly different from how they appear on your screen.

Orders. Placing an order is an offer to buy. We may decline or cancel an order, for example if an item is unavailable or a price was listed in error. If we cancel an order after you have paid, we will refund you in full.

Payment. Payments are processed by our payment providers, including Afterpay if you choose it. Pay-over-time plans are subject to the provider's own terms.

Shipping, returns, and exchanges. Shipping options and estimated delivery times are shown at checkout. If your item arrives damaged, defective, or wrong, email us within 30 days of delivery with your order number and a photo, and we will replace it or refund you. Contact us about any other return or exchange request.

Free printables. Free downloads, such as the Fox Family Adventures activity packet, are for personal, classroom, and home use. You may print copies for your own children or students. You may not sell them or post the files online.

6. Intellectual Property

Everything on the Site belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other laws. This includes our books, reading copies, articles, photographs, music, videos, ASL resources, and design. You may view and share links to our public content for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, republish, or sell our content without our written permission. Short quotes with credit and a link are fine.

7. Affiliate Links Disclosure

Some links on the Site, including some links to our books on Amazon, are affiliate links. If you buy something through one of these links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Not every Amazon link on the Site is an affiliate link, and affiliate relationships never affect what we recommend.

8. Newsletter and Emails

When you sign up for a free resource or for ASL practice, you are also subscribed to our newsletter, as stated on each form. Requesting Fox Family Adventures materials adds you to our separate Fox Family Adventures email list. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in any email. See our Privacy Policy.

9. Third-Party Services and Links

The Site uses and links to services we do not control, such as Squarespace, Afterpay, Kit, Zoom, Spotify, Amazon, and YouTube. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.

10. Disclaimers

The Site and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available." Our articles and resources about habits, productivity, and personal growth are general information, not professional, medical, psychological, financial, or legal advice. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Site will always be available or error-free.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site, the beta reader program, or the ASL practice sessions. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

12. Indemnity

If you break these Terms or misuse the Site, including by distributing a reading copy, you agree to cover the claims, losses, and reasonable legal costs that result for us.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post changes here and update the "Last Updated" date. If you keep using the Site after a change, you accept the updated Terms.

15. General

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a provision right away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later. These Terms and our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy are the full agreement between you and us about the Site.
